Stakeholder engagement

UKOER3 projects involved a diverse range of stakeholders in their activities. During phase 2 Cross sector issues were an interesting focus and findings were summarised in a briefing paper OpenPracticeAcrossSectors. Phase 2 projects investigated issues around HE in FE, workplace stakeholders and NHS in detail Phase2 Cross sector issues.

General approaches within phase 3

CORE-SET  - carried out some interesting work on baselining of each partner - where they started from and revisited later to find the road traveled, mapping  capabilities and expertise. Specifically focusing on Policies and practice with a very diverse set of partners, they are developing some case studies from the different partners highlighting different understandings and approaches.

" Firstly, in organising a visit at each partner site, to meet with a team of staff to be involved in the project. Secondly, to document each organisation’s perceptions and protocols relating to technical, legal and organisational issues associated with OERs; along with their links with the HE sector. Thirdly, to agree on themed collections to be assembled and released by each partner in collaboration with the project team, the latter having provided advice, support and training to partners, where necessary" (Interim report)

Early findings - seen as a timely project as partners have started to engage in sharing but limited success. Partners keen to strengthen links with HE (previously related to electronic resources and/or curriculum devt). Already raised awareness around CReative Commons licences, web 2.0 file sharing mechanisms. Widespread unawareness of these (even in staff with tech focus). Noted the dynamic nature of OErs and increasing changes in awareness around open content...

PublishOER - also took baselining approach with partners

SESAME - baselining approach with part-time tutors

Phase three theme projects continue this work with several partners:

Public Sector Engagement

Private Sector Engagement

3rd Sector Engagement

Education Sector
