releasing materials to support Academy accredited programmes or schemes of professional development that meet the UK Professional Standards Framework (UK PSF). for Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education.

Outputs and deliverables from the Release strand

Conclusions and Recommendations from project reports have enormous value in their own right and should be consulted for a fuller picture of project activities and recommndations. They are summarised here, along with outcomes from the final programme meeting at which projects from the OMAC strand met to discuss key outcomes.

 

Projects
OM1 University of Wolverhampton, Learning to Teach Inclusively – a multi media open access module for HE staff

Developed a ‘tailor-able’ module entitled ‘teaching inclusively’ that may be taken by teaching & support staff as part of an accredited professional development programme. Reflects 4 key areas of inclusive practice (curriculum design, curriculum delivery, assessment & management) .

 

OM2 GEES Subject Centre, Educational Development Open Resources (EDOR)

University of Plymouth, University of Plymouth Partner Colleges & Geography, Earth & Environmental Sciences (GEES) Subject Centre released teaching materials on a range of topics for the broader HE community. All resources were critically evaluated through their prior-use in HEA-accredited courses for new & experienced academics, academic-related & support staff, as well as CETL programmes & Subject Centre workshops.

 

OM3 English Subject Centre, ASSAP: Adding Subject Specificity to Accredited Programmes

Collected resources for English or Creative Writing lecturers to develop or refresh their teaching practice. Known as 'The Pool', the collection contains a variety of materials such as video footage, activities & texts which might be used to add a subject-dimension to accredited courses or incorporated in learning and teaching events in departments.

 

OM4 University of Exeter, Open STEM: Transforming Teaching in Mathematics and Biosciences

Released material from 2 HEA-accredited courses for academic staff & teaching assistants in HE to provide a rich range of STEM-specific open resources for educators & professional development teams. Focussed specifically on Mathematics & Biosciences, as exemplars of the diversity of activities within STEM subjects.

 

OM5 University College Falmouth, IPR for Educational Environments (IPR4EE)

Released OERs for teacher education & CPD programmes in HEwith a focus on raising awareness of issues surrounding IPR &, specifically, copyright, when creating or re-using resources to generate teaching materials.

 

OM6 University College London, CPD4HE: Open Resources on HE Teaching and Learning

Adressed the need to provide varied & flexible support for the professional development of staff who teach in HE. Released educational resources to support professional development in Digital Literacies & Discipline-specific Teaching and Learning.

 

OM7 London School of Economics and Political Science, Developing Educators Learning and Information Literacies for Accreditation (DELILA)

Brought together library staff & HEA accredited course leaders at the London School of Economics (LSE) & the University of Birmingham to adapt & make openly available digital & information literacy teaching material to support teachers on HEA accredited programmes.

 

OM8 BMAF Subject Centre, Open for business

The Business, Management, Accountancy and Finance (BMAF) Subject Centre worked with 5 HE Institutions to openly release resources that support the Professional Standards Framework for new (and existing) academic staff working in the fields of Business, Management, Accountancy and Finance.

 

OM9 MEDEV Subject Centre, Accredited Clinical Teachers Open Resources (ACTOR) 

The Medicine, Dentistry & Veterinary Medicine (MEDEV) Subject Centre sought to widen the user base & influence the development of new PGCertClinEd programmes by raising confidence among educational leaders. These will in turn pass this knowledge to students on PGCertClinEd who will (over time) influence colleagues, clinicians and NHS Trusts.

 

OM10 University of Bradford, Open educational resources for the inclusive curriculum (ORIC)

Released OER resources from an existing PG CERT around inclusive curriculum design, education for sustainable development & digital literacy.  Produced in a range of formats to maximise flexibility & useability.

 

OM11 Rose Bruford College, Reflecting on Learning and Teaching in the Performing Arts

Released innovative learning & teaching resources developed for the delivery of the PG Cert in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education: Theatre & Performing Arts at Rose Bruford College which enable students to study, watch, reflect & interact through the College VLE.
